Maja Hadžiomerović

Maja Hadžiomerović is a co-founder of the “Riders of Hope” Association and one of the key figures behind the development and strategic direction of its therapeutic programs. Since the very beginning of the idea, she has worked closely with Senada to build and shape the organization and its long-term vision.

She holds a degree in Biology with a focus on Neural and Behavioral Sciences from Bryn Mawr College in the United States, where she developed a strong understanding of working with neurodiverse children and individuals with developmental challenges. Her professional background also includes international experience in development and humanitarian initiatives, as well as engagement in the fields of human rights and public health.

Maja has over 25 years of riding experience across four continents and in a wide range of environments – from remote, undeveloped settings in developing countries to world-class equestrian centers and Olympic-level training facilities. This breadth of experience gives her a unique perspective in working with both horses and people.

For Maja, “Riders of Hope” represents a meaningful intersection of her academic background in neuroscience, her lifelong passion for horses, and her commitment to working with people, especially children in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Through her own life experience, including growing up in the aftermath of war, she recognized early the role that working with horses can play in creating a sense of safety and recovery. Today, her work focuses on making the emotional and physical benefits of therapeutic riding more accessible to those who need it, in an environment where such programs are still limited.

Her role within “Riders of Hope” is focused on program development, strategic leadership, and building international partnerships, with a strong emphasis on quality and long-term sustainability.
